In 2025, our employees earned four awards across local, state, and national organizations, recognizing excellence in leadership, emergency response, training, and performance during critical incidents:

  • PSAPs’ Finest Line Supervisor of the Year – A SREC 911 Supervisor with nearly two decades of experience was recognized for consistent, solutions-focused leadership and a deep commitment to both operational excellence and employee well-being. Known for anticipating team needs, stepping in during critical moments, and fostering a supportive, high-performing environment, this leadership approach strengthens both daily operations and long-term resilience.
  • Spokane County EMS & Trauma Care Council Excellence in EMS Award (Telecommunicator) – A Communications Officer was honored for exceptional emergency medical dispatch performance, maintaining an outstanding 9.76 average EMD score over 50 quality reviews in a single year. This recognition reflects both technical precision and the ability to deliver clear, life-saving instructions while remaining calm and composed during high-risk, time-critical calls.
  • WA APCO-NENA Trainer of the Year – A Certified Training Officer/Communications Officer was recognized for delivering impactful, hands-on training that prepares telecommunicators for real-world emergencies. This includes specialized instruction in areas such as domestic violence response and autism awareness, along with sharing expertise at state and national conferences—expanding understanding and improving response across the profession.
  • VFW 911 Dispatcher Public Service Citation – A Communications Officer was recognized for extraordinary performance during a critical incident at Eastern State Hospital, demonstrating exceptional composure, clear communication, and compassion while supporting a caller experiencing a traumatic event. This recognition highlights the ability to gather vital information, support responders, and provide reassurance in moments of crisis.
If asked, each of these award recipients would likely say they are simply doing their job. What these recognitions reflect, however, is the level of skill, dedication, and consistency required to do that job at an exceptional level—every shift, every call.
In 2024, our employees earned three awards across national and regional organizations, recognizing lifetime achievement, innovation, and excellence in emergency medical dispatch:

  • PSAPs’ Finest Lifetime Achievement Award – A SREC 911 Communications Supervisor with more than three decades of service was recognized for a career defined by resilience, expertise, and an enduring commitment to the profession. With extensive experience in law dispatch and more than 20 years dedicated to training, this work shaped generations of telecommunicators while strengthening relationships with field responders and reinforcing a culture centered on safety, trust, and excellence. She retired at the end of 2024 after an incredible career.
  • PSAPs’ Finest Innovator of the Year – An SREC technical leader was recognized for driving innovation in emergency response, leading a cross-functional team to transform evacuation notification processes—reducing alert times from almost 30 minutes to less than 10 minutes. This work also introduced a public-facing evacuation map, rapidly deployed during regional wildfires to provide real-time information and reduce 911 call volume, delivering lasting impact to both responders and the community.
  • Spokane County EMS & Trauma Care Council Telecommunicator of the Year – A Communications Officer and Training Officer was honored for exceptional emergency medical dispatch performance, maintaining an average EMD score of 9.40 with consistently high compliance, including 100% compliance across multiple CPR calls. This recognition also reflects the ability to provide calm, life-saving guidance during critical moments—including supporting a successful emergency childbirth—while mentoring and developing the next generation of telecommunicators.
Across each of these recognitions is a common thread: sustained impact. Whether built over decades, driven through innovation, or demonstrated in critical moments on the line, this work reflects a level of dedication that extends well beyond any single award.
In 2023, our employees earned four awards across state, regional, and national organizations, recognizing excellence in technical expertise, training, and life-saving emergency response:
  • WA APCO/NENA Technician of the Year – An SREC IT employee with more than two decades of service was recognized for exceptional expertise in managing and maintaining critical emergency communications systems that truly are the backbone of emergency communications. Having started his career on the 911 floor, he brings a deep, practical understanding of the work behind every call—allowing him to anticipate needs, troubleshoot effectively, and ensure the technology supporting responders is reliable when it matters most. Known as a trusted, go-to resource, his work reflects both technical mastery and a genuine commitment to the people and mission he supports.
  • WA APCO/NENA Trainer of the Year – A Communications Training Officer and Lead with over 20 years in 911 was recognized for shaping the next generation of telecommunicators. Through mentorship, program development, and a selfless commitment to others’ success, this work strengthens recruitment, retention, and performance—while instilling the professionalism and service mindset essential to public safety.
  • Spokane County EMS & Trauma Care Council Telecommunicator of the Year – A Communications Officer was honored for outstanding emergency medical dispatch performance, including successfully guiding bystanders through multiple CPR incidents—from an adult in cardiac distress to an infant in respiratory crisis—resulting in positive outcomes. This recognition reflects the ability to deliver calm, precise, and compassionate instruction when every second matters.
  • NICE PSAPs’ Finest Trainer of the Year – A Communications Training Officer was additionally recognized at the national level for excellence in training, mentorship, and on-the-floor leadership. With a 96% QA average and consistently high performance standards, this work ensures trainees meet both agency and industry expectations while fostering confidence, resilience, and continuous improvement across the team.
Taken together, these recognitions point to something deeper than individual achievement—they reflect the everyday expertise, mentorship, and decisive action that quietly shape outcomes for both responders and the community, often without recognition in the moment.
