About SREC
Spokane Regional Emergency Communications (SREC) is a regionalized emergency response communications organization formed in 2018 as a Public Development Authority. Located in Spokane, Washington, SREC serves more than 550,000 citizens throughout the county as the primary PSAP for the region. In addition to answering emergency and non-emergency calls, SREC provides Fire and Law Dispatch services to 14 local Fire Protection Authorities and 7 local Law Enforcement Agencies in Spokane County. These services span more than 1,700 miles, and include management of more than 4,900 radios, 23 tower sites, and a backup center. SREC also writes reports for most of the law enforcement agencies in the region. We currently employ approximately 137 employees across the organization. Our mission is to get the right resources to the right location with an uncompromising focus on responder and citizen safety.

Our History
1998
Spokane County fire districts consolidated their communications systems into one: The Combined Communications Center.
2004
The Combined Communications Building was built with future interoperability in mind and brought 9-1-1 call receiving, law enforcement dispatch and the fire and medical combined communications center together in the same facility.
2008
The 1/10th Ballot Measure was passed to build an interoperable radio system.
2018
83% of Spokane County voters passed Proposition 1: 1/10th of 1% Sales Tax Renewal providing financial sustainability through 2028 for improvements in emergency communications including integration.
Emergency service communications in the Spokane region integrates on July 1 as Spokane Regional Emergency Communications, a single organization established as a Public Development Authority created to improve current operations and prepare for future technology.
2019
Spokane City Council passes Resolution 2019-0035 on June 24, terminating City of Spokane participation in Spokane Regional Emergency Communications integrated system. City of Spokane Fire Department and City of Spokane Police Department dispatch services will be provided by City of Spokane employees.
SREC moves Emergency Medical Dispatch from Fire to 911. Now, a caller facing a medical emergency stays on the line with the original Communications Officer while responders are being dispatched, saving vital moments in response time and providing comfort and aid to our citizens in need while eliminating a call transfer. This achieves one of the many reasons for integration--saving time and providing immediate care.
2020
Crime Check launches Online Reporting, allowing citizens to file an official police report for non-emergency crimes. Reports can be filed immediately and printed free of charge, offering a convenient and cost effective solution for citizens.
2022
SREC begins Emergency Medical Dispatch and fire dispatching services for the City of Spokane Fire Department.
2023
SREC leads collaborative team of Fire and Law Enforcement agencies in choosing new CAD system--the first time a single platform will be used for member agencies.
2024
SREC supports SFD launch of Nurse Navigation Line designed to align appropriate level of medical care to 911 callers at the right time and place.
SREC launches mobile app called SREC911. Puts numerous resources within single resource.
SREC celebrates 5 Year Anniversary.
